LaMarcus Aldridge knows what he’s walking into when he returns to Portland to face the Trail Blazers

In what was one of the biggest moves of the NBA Free Agency period recently, LaMarcus Aldridge decided to end his run with the Portland Trail Blazers, heading off to now play for perennial title contender, the San Antonio Spurs. It was a move that really didn’t shock too many people, but there were some Blazers fans that held out hope that he would stay.

Ultimately, in the end he didn’t stay and now some of those Blazers fans are a little perturbed, to say the least. With some hard feelings, you can expect that when Aldridge returns to Portland this season for the first time that he won’t exactly get a warm welcome.

Well, that’s OK, because he’s really not expecting one. In an appearance on ESPN Radio Tuesday, Aldridge noted that he doesn’t exactly expect a warm reception when he steps on the court in Portland this season.

“I think going back [to Portland] my first time might be boos because I think people are really hurt by my decision. They don’t understand why I left. So I think my first game back, I probably will be booed.”

Of course, he’s correct, even though he shouldn’t be booed. To that point, he’s also correct in that they probably don’t understand that he made the best decision for him, and during his time in Portland, he was nothing but a model teammate and player.

He’ll get booed, yes, but those people might want to take a step back first and remember how good he really was when he was there.
